What kind of friend?

Posted in My writings tagged , , at 1:26 pm by mottoblasco

In her darkest hour…were you there to show her love?

In her hardest time…were you there fighting for her?

In her neediest moment…were you there unceasingly?

In her saddest day…were you there to wipe her tears?

In her time of trials…were you showing her to Jesus?

In those quiet times…were you praying for her soul?

What kind of friend…are you?

More fun kids stuff!

Posted in The Blasco Kids tagged , , , , at 11:30 am by mottoblasco

The kids just found our Fisher price Nativity set & have been playing w/ it.  Here’s part of the conversation:

A: “Wiseman! Husband!  Baby Jesus came out of my tummy!” (cheering)

M: “Grrr, ugh, oof” (wisemen are fighting)…sounds about right 🙂

A: : “Your not my daddy anymore.”

M: “Well, I better just eat the baby then”

I should remind them that’s not what scripture says happened 🙂

Awesome opportunities!

Posted in Home, Mmmmmmm fooooood tagged , , , , at 3:24 pm by mottoblasco

In just 2 days I’ve been blessed to have 2 opportunities to share my knowledge to do God’s work.  First is an opportunity to help a family who has many needs and who want to know of God more.  What better way to show who God is than by helping those in need.  I am so excited and pray that this sweet family will see God’s grace thru myself & others who want to help as well.

My 2nd opportunity is to help in stocking a food pantry.  Although I cannot likely stock it alone, I have the tools that can help others learn an inexpensive way to help stock the pantry.  Again, this will help many others who are in need and pray they will see the kindness they are given is because God calls us to it & return are blessed.

The world of balancing

Posted in Home tagged , , at 4:15 pm by mottoblasco

I constantly feel as though I am balancing something.  Bills, how do I lower this bill to make up for the upcharge on this one.  Kids, nuff said.  House…here’s where I am struggling now.

My mother LOVES decorating.  My husband & I play the “what’s changed at her house” game every time we visit.  She’s an avid HGTV watcher & likes to share her knowledge.  Which is fine by me.  However, I do not have the financial means to go out and buy a new pillow for the living room or lamp for my bedroom.  I have what I have & need to make it work.

As we are preparing the house for selling next year I find myself trying to balance the thoughts ‘should I spend money on household stuff just to make it look better for selling’?  Granted it WOULD make things look better, but is it really worth it?  Shouldn’t we just worry about the house and not the stuff.  The frugal woman in me says ‘use what you have’.  But my mom & the make-things-look-better-woman in me say sometimes you have to spend.

Here’s the thing though, I REFUSE to spend if I wouldn’t want to keep it in the long run.  Mom, doesn’t care.  It’s all about presentation and appearances.  Buy now, sell later.  The other thing is that our house is not in the $300,000 or even $200,000 range.  We’ll be lucky if we get $80,000.  So, now you tell me…is it worth spending on decor/ furniture we don’t need just to help sell.  Is our world so messed up that looking at other peoples things will help us decide if we would like to buy a house?

For now(and always really), I am just praying that the Lord will lead a buyer to us, regardless of how HGTV would “Rate my space” and lead us to our next house.

No more excuses

Posted in Home, My writings tagged , , at 9:23 pm by mottoblasco

You know how you come to a point when enough is enough.  You are tired of living with the monotony of the day-to-day stuff?  Mostly, tired of making excuses for why that bible hasn’t gotten off the shelf in a month, aside from church(boo to ‘Sunday’ Christianity).  I’m in that place.  I am tired of saying I don’t have time and I’m going to make time.  Don’t get me wrong, I love God & pray & praise daily, but the Bible or even a daily devoted time is non-existent.  So here I am, putting it out there that I refuse to let that continue.

John & I have talked about it many times because we go thru stages where the kids get more demanding, then less demanding, then more demanding &  back again.  But we know Christ deserves so much more than that.  Family night will now commence.  Every Tuesday night we will not watch TV/Movies, etc.  We will play with the kids(duh), do Gracie Games, but most important study & read Bible stories & pray with them.  These things aren’t uncommon but we want to be more purposeful about it.  Also, after they go to sleep it’s our turn to pray, study, talk, worship, together.

Please pray for us that we continue to seek putting him first, because we all know how hard it is in our fallen state.  A men

The ONLY one for me

Posted in My writings tagged , , at 3:51 pm by mottoblasco

My dream growing up was to be married.  I ALWAYS wanted to fall in love &  have a wonderful loving marriage.  I want to help those out there who haven’t discovered that kind of love, yet.  To help you realize that God may be preparing him/her for you but it’s all in his timing.  So, I thought I might offer a glimpse of how God worked in me.

A year or so before I met John I was tired of  ‘dating’  I just wanted to find Him, the one (I felt) God created just for me.  So I stopped dating and re-focused on God, knowing that I had to be right with the Lord before he would bless me with my spouse. I began to write letters to my spouse not knowing who he would be…

Because of you, He’s working in me.

Because of you, I’ve changed my ways.

Because of us, He’s called me back.

Because of us, I want to be pure.

Because of Him, I’m forgiven and whole.

Because of Him, I can now be yours.

Because of them, I strive for patience.

Because of them, We seek his love.

Because He cares, You are preparing for me.

Because He cares, You are finally mine.

To school or not to school…

Posted in Home-schooling tagged , , at 2:16 pm by mottoblasco

I know the debates of do I send them to school/ pre-school or do I keep them home & try this homeschooling thing.  My husband & I are pretty set on homeschooling, but realize that it might not be for everyone…such a shame.  I used to worry that homeschooling would lend itself to children who can’t socialize well with peers, but those days are long gone.  There are so many different homeschooling groups that plan activities on a regular basis that we can get involved with.  I also recently heard that since we will pay for school taxes, unless law says otherwise, they should be able to play school sports, which will be nice in about 6 years(if laws don’t get changed).

As we have begun to search out what it will take to homeschool we are finding so many more options out there than just school-at-home.  There is homeschooling, there is online based homeschooling, media based homeschooling, there is online based public schooling, charter schools, etc.  But we have strong values/ religious beliefs and the public schools will not teach our kids those things, so we will not send them to public schools or charter schools…that much we know.

We are at the beginning of the process so we have much to learn but are so excited with what an adventure we are embarking on!  If you are embarking on this road please let me know, we can’t wait to begin 🙂

Do you?

Posted in My writings tagged , at 11:39 am by mottoblasco

Do you have a passion for Christ?

That far surpasses just following the word.

Where you can’t get enough of him?

You should…

Is it possible to follow him, truly?

without that fire in your heart?

If so, are you really following him?

How can you say you follow him and live your life for him
If you still let yourself be of the world?

If you see a man, asking for money on the side of the road…

Do you think, “If I give him money he’ll just buy booze?”

Or is it “God, I pray that you will help him in his circumstance”

If you see someone who is obviously struggling with life…

Do you think, “I wish they would get it together?”

Or is it “Lord, send them someone who can share your love”

If you find yourself upset with your spouse…

Do you think, “Geez, doesn’t he/she see how upset i am?”

Or is it “Christ, help me to not be upset over such trivial things”
